Jamie Whyte is a philosopher who writes on philosophy for a general audience. Born in New Zealand, he now lives in the United Kingdom. He was formerly a lecturer in Philosophy at Cambridge University.[1]
He has written numerous articles for The Times newspaper, and books including Bad Thoughts[2] (whose US edition is called Crimes Against Logic [1]) and A Load of Blair.[3] His style attempts to dissect confused logic and nonsensical arguments, specifically the public pronouncements of modern politicians.
In Bad Thoughts Whyte identifies and provides examples of the most common devices used to present flawed arguments, and encourages the reader to develop the ability to spot flawed reasoning.
Whyte is a committed defender of the economist Friedrich Hayek.
